In my previous role running a football coaching franchise I have worked with young people and develop key skills to build rapport encouraging them to be the best versions of themselves. This led to increased confidence and better performances in their lives. After a while I knew I needed a new challenge and wanted to explore how I could continue to put these skills into action.
I was struggling with my mindset and clarity knowing what path I wanted to take next in my life. I then spent time reflecting and practising new things Including meditation, journaling and diving into books to study them deeply and apply their lessons. This was powerful for me and derived some powerful insights which helped me and I now have now adapted so they can help others as well. I spent time working in Hong Kong in my previous role and became interested in Eastern lifestyle and psychology particular that of Japan which I bring into my coaching sessions now.
I've been through phases of low mood in my life and lack of meaning and I know life can be challenging. In my sessions we also focus on the importance of mental health, taking time to work on this and talk about it I feel is so important and to ask for help when we need it. As part of my training I have done my counselling skills level 2 certificate so I can use these skills in my sessions. I also do some work for a mental health sports charity, as I am big advocate for the importance of movement for our mental wellbeing.
As Steve Jobs said you can’t connect the dots looking forward you only can looking back. With this reflection practice, looking back on my experiences and my passion for self development. I cultivated a service based mindset to use my skills and experience to help others. Building on this I knew from my background that I enjoy working with young people and helping them to reach their potential. The idea of being a positive influence and sharing wisdom I am applying to help young people really resonated with me. Being a youth development coach and mentor gives me a platform in which to do this. I currently work with young people on a weekly basis to help them improve their mindset, performance and lifestyle to make powerful changes in their life. I provide support and accountability in a tailored way. Armed with this knowledge we set specific goals focus areas and habits to make lasting change in their lives.
